L'oeil des leucemiques

Résumé

L'examen ophtalmoloscopique des leucémies est plus important pour suivre l'évolution et l'effet de la thérapeutique que pour poser le diagnostic. Les traitements actuels des leucoses aiguës prolongent la survie des malades et permettent d'observer parfois l'apparition d'un syndrome d'hypertension intracrânienne et, partant, d'un oedème papillaire, ce qui implique un examen systématique et répété du fond d'oeil. La thérapeutique intra-rachidienne peut dans ces conditions éviter l'atrophie optique post-oedémateuse.

Summary

The ophthalmoscopic examination of leucemia is more important to follow the evolution and the efficiency of the therapeutics than to make the diagnosis. The modern treatments of acute leucosis prolong the life of the patient and an intracranial hypertensive syndrom may develop and, consequently, an oedema of the disc; that makes a systematic and repeated examination of the fundus necessary. Then an intrarachidian treatment can avoid a post-oedematous optic atrophy.

Zusammenfassung

Die ophthalmoskopische Untersuchung der Leukämien ist wichtiger für die Verfolgung ihrer Entwicklung und der Wirkung der Therapie als für die Diagnose. Die gegenwärtige Behandlung der akuten Leukosen verlängert die Lebensdauer der Kranken und so kommt es öfter zum Auftreten einer intrakraniellen Drucksteigerung und als deren Folge zu einer Stauungs-papille. Das allein macht eine systematische und wiederholte Untersuchung des Augenhintergrundes nötig, denn bei Auftreten einer solchen Komplikation kann durch eine intradurale Behandlung eine Optikusatrophie verhütet werden.
