Summary
The histological examination of diabetic, tetanic and myotonic cataracts shows lesions of the cortex in shape of small intraand mostly interfibrillous detritus. The histochemical features of the 3 types are not distinct; however in diabetes, the PAS + material is very abundant and the hydration phenomena are more pronounced. In myotonia, the detritus consists of very small particles. In tetania, one notices a disposition in concentric layers. The comparison with experimental facts allows to assert the intrafibrillous beginning of the lesions; the superficial epithelium being only affected secondarily.
