Summary
The three RNA types involving in protein biosynthesis are present in crystalline lens.
In epithelial zone, soluble RNAs and ribosomal RNAs are in proportion encounted in others mammalian cells. But in the lens fibers of cortical and central zones, ribosomal RNAs decrease and the proportion of soluble RNAs is markedly greater.
The messenger RNA isolated in epithelial zone has a half life of 8 hours.
Moreover, there is a soluble RNA distinct from transfer RNA, which seems peculiar to lens.
