Xylanase, CM-cellulase and Avicelase production by the thermophilic fungus Sporotrichum thermophile

Biotechnology Letters Aims and scope Submit manuscript

Summary

When wheat straw was used as carbon source, Sporotrichum thermophile produced large amounts of xylanase extracellularly in addition to CM-cellulase and Avicelase. These enzymes were isolated by alcohol precipitation, desalting and column chromatography. The molecular weights were estimated to be 25,000 65,000 and 84,000 for xylanase, CM-cellulase and Avicelase respectively. Serine and threonine were found to be the most abundant amino acids and these enzymes are very acidic proteins.
