Abstract
Leblanc and de la Noë used the set of data published by Mercier and Rosenberg (1974) on the type III burst at 169 MHz. They conclude that type III bursts are associated with low density coronal structures and occur in low density regions.
We show that their methods cannot lead to firm conclusions; we point out some inconsistencies in their results.
