Abstract
This article examines the first ten volumes of the journal, classifying articles by area of origin and by subject. Attention is drawn to the almost total absence of articles on the research function of higher education; to the lightness of the contribution on curricular matters; and to the absence of much discussion of the special contribution of institutions other than universities. More generally, the article illustrates the tendency of the journal to reflect a conventional wisdom which is already becoming out of date, and it asks what important matters may be being missed by current contributors.
