Abstract

Because of theoretical difficulties in predicting the behavior of multi-ionic plasmas, observation must serve as a guide to expectations concerning the results of further measurements of other parameters. Here we examine the support for the common belief that observations of the helium to hydrogen temperature ratio indicate that the thermal velocities of ionic species in the solar wind tend to be equal.
