Conclusion
Firstly: methods of examination such as fluorescein angiography and perimetry are not entirely reliable in the differential diagnosis between a choroid naevus and a small flat melanoma in its initial stage.
Secondly: therefore, large ‘naevi’ should be followed up meticulously for a very long time, in spite of the statistically very small risk of malignant degeneration.
