Abstract

Arch-like features are often seen in spectrograms of very strong lines near the solar limb when the slit crosses the chromospheric network. We show how earlier kinetic-equilibrium (non-LTE) calculations for Ca ii can be used to predict such features for the K line with two-component atmospheric models.
