Coronal heating by prominence turbulence

Abstract

The generation of magnetohydrodynamic waves in the corona by the observed random motions in prominences is considered. The associated energy input into the corona may be a significant source of heating for the coronal loops overlying prominences, especially during the onset of flares. Some relevant observations are discussed.
