Abstract
The estimated values of the energy transported by flare accelerated protons and electrons, based on gamma-ray and hard X-ray measurements in space, are compared with the energy emitted in white light from the 1972, August 7, white light event. The aim is to evaluate the relative contribution of protons and electrons in producing the white light enhancement.
