Abstract
Investigations based on independent observational materials and carried out by different authors show that sunspot groups display a latitudinal drift curve, the shape of which depends on phase in the solar cycle. Ward has tried to disprove this. His conclusions are based on ignorance of work done previously and on a mathematical misunderstanding.
