Abstract

The effect of noncoherent scattering is examined for an absorption line formed in a uniform magnetic field. It is shown that the Stokes parameters of the line radiation may be computed by using the line source function in the absence of a magnetic field as a first approximation for that in the presence of a magnetic field.
