Abstract

The karyotypes of Clethrionomys rufocanus and C. glareolus are presented using G- and C-banding techniques. There is intraspecific polymorphism in Clethrionomys rufocanus for a pericentric inversion. The main difference between the karyotypes of the two species is considered to result from a reciprocal translocation.
