Abstract

The author gives a review of the present position of spinach breeding. In succession the following sections are treated: Historical data, secondary sex characters, biology of the flower, shortening the time required for a generation, breeding methods, inheritance of some characters, the testing and selection methods and the breeding objectives.

Schrijver geeft een overzicht van de huidige stand van de veredeling bij spinazie. Achtereenvolgens zijn de volgende onderwerpen behandeld: Enige punten uit de geschiedenis van de spinazieveredeling, secundaire geslachtskenmerken, bloembiologie, verkorting van de generatieduur, veredelingsmethoden, overerving van enige eigenschappen, methoden van toetsen en selecteren, kweekdoelen.
