Abstract
In a previous paper, Duplex Rules were developed by classical mechanics theory. In this paper, Crack Opening Displacement (COD) is calculated and the reason why COD can be used as a fracture criterion is presented. We show that COD is approximately the total plastic deformation of the plastic zone and we further show that COD can be derived by classical mechanics. Also the strain concentration curve including the crack tip strain is calculated and shown in this paper.
