Abstract

Chemical changes in the rhizosphere of soil-grown plants are demonstrated by non-destructive techniques based on colour reactions. The following examples are given: FeIII reduction in the rhizosphere of a Hakea species, MnIV reduction in the rhizosphere of chikpea, complexation of Al in the rhizosphere of Norway spruce, and the activity of acid phosphatase in the rhizosphere of maize.
