Abstract
During surveys on the rocky shores of the Transkei Coast, southern Africa, a trichodinid was collected from four Oxystele spp. Upon examination, it was found that this trichodinid was Trichodina oxystelis Sandon, 1965, originally described from the mantle cavity of the marine prosobranch Oxystele variegata. Because the original description failed to follow the now universally accepted system of uniform specific characteristics, a redescription of T. oxystelis is provided.
