Abstract
Available descriptions of the adult females of Ergasilus sieboldi and Neoergasilus japonicus are supplemented with additional data obtained using scanning electron microscopy and comparisons are made between the two genera. The presence of a true cephalothorax incorporating the first pedigerous somite is confirmed in ergasilids. The segmental homologies of the cephalic limbs are reinterpreted.
