Abstract

The food of juvenile brown trout in Loch Leven was studied by the examination of 662 stomachs of fish caught between October 1974 and Decenber 1976. The food consumption was estimated only on the basis of the analysis of the stomach contents.

The main food items of juvenile trout in the loch are chironomids, crustaceans and nematodes: these are abundant in the offshore mud zone of the loch.
