Dear Editor,

Endorama is a National Congress of Endocrinology, the aim of which is to present the main advances in all domains of endocrinology published during the previous year. Since 2008, the Congress has been held yearly at the Conference and Cultural Center of the University of Patras, Greece, during the last weekend of January. Given that this year, 2018, marked the completion of 10 years of Endorama presentations, the Endorama Organizing Committee decided that, instead of presenting the most important publications of the preceding year, it would showcase those publications that have significantly contributed to progress in endocrinology over the past decade, as well as offer a tentative prediction of what major developments are likely to take place in the decade to come. Each of the invited speakers made their focus one of the key domains of endocrinology (pituitary, thyroid, adrenals, reproduction, insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus, lipids, bone metabolism, pediatric endocrinology). The Congress was held in Patras on 26–27 January, 2018.

The Editors and the Editorial Board of Hormones, the official journal of the Hellenic Endocrine Society, concurrently decided to include in one of the issues of the journal a supplement titled “The decade” containing certain presentations of the invited speakers. We wish to express our gratitude to the authors, who made an immense effort to present the scientific breakthroughs and findings in their field of expertise.

The present issue therefore includes in its supplement the following reviews:

“Non-insulin dependent diabetes mellitus,” by Jihad Haddad, Consultant Endocrinologist, National Center of Diabetes and Endocrinology and Metabolism, Prince Hamzah Hospital, Amman, Jordan

“Female reproduction,” by Djuro Macut, Associate Professor of Internal Medicine and Endocrinology, Clinic of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolic Diseases, Faculty of Medicine, University of Belgrade, Serbia

“Adrenals,” by Constantine Stratakis, Senior Investigator, NIH Scientific Director, Intramural Research, NICHD, NIH Chief, Section on Endocrinology and Genetics, NICHD, NIH
