Hybrid Drives for Off-highway Applications

When it comes to highly utilized off-highway machines, the diesel engine is still the means of choice. Especially heavy excavators and wheel loaders rely on the high power density, the strong torque and the flexibility of the compression ignition engine. Nevertheless, electrification offers great potential for increasing performance, optimizing efficiency and reducing operating costs. Deutz has therefore launched the E-Deutz strategy to develop optimized hybrid and electric drive systems as a competitive alternative for off-highway applications in material handling, construction machinery and agriculture.
Rising environmental and health protection requirements and technological advances in electric drive and, above all, battery technology are making hybrid electric and electric drive systems interesting for more and more applications.
