Automatic calibration of tractor transmission controls

The quality of the working process of tractors depends on the precisely adjustable speed. This is largely guaranteed by power split transmissions. In order to achieve optimum tractor behavior, the transmission control unit must be adapted to the correct interaction of the mechanical, electrical and hydraulic components. In cooperation with CNH Industrial, RWTH Aachen University has developed a software for automatic transmission control calibration.

Motivation

By 2050, food production must double to meet the food needs of the growing population. Due to limited available and suitable arable land, the necessary growth of food production can only be achieved by increasing yields. The increase in yield depends largely on the precision with which the cultivation processes are carried out. The precision of the cultivation and thus the quality of the working process is influenced by the exact controllability of the tractor speed, which is achieved with modern power split transmissions....
