New Actuator Generation for Large Diesel, Gas and Dual-fuel Engines

To meet demand for more complex air and fuel management, especially in the light of the increasing use of gas engines in a growing range of applications, in addition to more advanced engine controllers, Heinzmann GmbH & Co. KG has responded with a new generation of actuators targeting diesel, gas, and dual-fuel engines.

Motivation

The rapid shift to engines burning gaseous fuels and exacting new engine applications place new demands on air and fuel management.

Further challenges result from tightening global emissions legislation and the constant desire for lower fuel consumption, higher power density and reduced Total Cost of Ownership (TCO). A significant part of engine air management relies on various flaps and valves and the actuators that drive them. To meet new requirements, Heinzmann has used its long experience in electronic engine management to develop a new generation of actuators for throttle valves, wastegates, compressor bypasses and other applications.
