Access to information by public sector entities is key for a stable democracy and a functioning market economy. This book focuses on the issue of free access to information, which is an essential part of the openness and transparency principle. When it comes to regulation, however, no general harmonising framework exists in Europe. Rather, the different traditions and histories of the jurisdictions lead to a variety of rules and practices.

With this background in mind, Dacian C. Dragos (Babeş-Bolyai University in Cluj-Napoca), Polonca Kovač (University of Ljubljana), and Albert T. Marseille (University of Groningen) have edited a comprehensive book entitled The Laws of Transparency in ActionA European Perspective.
