Modular 48-V/12-V DC/DC Converter with High Power Density

Mahle has developed a modular system of 48-V/12-V DC/DC converters based on gallium nitride Mosfets. Power output ranges up to 3.5 kW, with natural or forced convection air cooling as well as liquid cooling available to meet customer requirements.

CO2 Reduction with 48-V Systems

Future vehicles will need to comply with tighter legislation on CO2 emissions. Solutions must be found for this legal framework that do not impact driving comfort and driving fun, while ensuring optimal cost-benefit ratios.

To achieve these CO2targets, it makes sense to electrify the powertrain. Of particular interest for this purpose are 48-V systems, as they do not require the safety measures that high-voltage systems do, making them less expensive in comparison.
