Mahle Powertrain | WLTP- and RDE-capable Test Center
Mahle Powertrain is opening a new test and certification center in Northampton (UK) that allows entire WLTP and RDE cycles to be simulated. This means the company can reduce existing bottlenecks when it comes to calibrating and certifying vehicles, and support its customers in meeting the major challenges the new approval standards impose. The facility is designed for vehicles with combustion engines and hybrid powertrains and equipped with a four-wheel-drive chassis dynamometer. The alternating altitudes specified for the WLTP cycle are created by a pressure chamber that encompasses the entire test bench. This can simulate environments at altitudes of up to 5000 m, and maintain air temperatures ranging from -40 to +60 °C, as well as headwind and humidity.
