HPV-Infektion: Neuer Risikofaktor für Mund-Rachen-Karzinome

Früher waren vor allem Tabakrauch und Alkoholkonsum Risikofaktoren für Kopf-Hals-Karzinome. Heute gewinnt dagegen die Infektion mit Humanen Papillomaviren (HPV) an Bedeutung. Von dieser neuen Tumorentität sind vor allem Männer mit häufig wechselnden Sexualpartnern betroffen.
