Abstract
The present study reports the diel variations of zooplanktons in two ponds at Barrackpore, West Bengal, India. The zooplankton showed different patterns of vertical movements in different time sections of a day. The copepods and cladocerans were always found to be abundant near the surface during morning and evening whereas the rotifers showed reciprocal pattern. Copepods and cladocerans were found in lesser number collected at noon. Although the ponds were situated at the similar location, there was a difference found in the diversity and dominance of the zooplankton.
