Repair of distal biceps tendon rupture using EndoButton

Abstract

We describe a single-incision technique using a cortical button fixation to repair distal biceps tendon rupture. With the single-incision approach the interosseous fascia is not violated; consequently, complications like heterotopic ossifications and synostosis are fewer. Cortical buttons have been shown to have a higher load to failure than other popular methods of fixation. A strong fixation allows an early active range of motion. In our practice this is the technique of choice to treat acute and chronic rupture of distal biceps tendon.
