Acta Geotechnica

, Volume 8, Issue 1, pp 1–1 | Cite as

Started in 2006, Acta Geotechnica has developed from infancy to a fully fledged quality journal with high impact. The year 2010 saw the inclusion of Acta Geotechnica in SCI. We would like to inform you of some developments in our journal.

More issues: From 2013 on, Acta Geotechnica will have 6 issues (four issues until now). Each issue will have more papers. This will shorten the publication time and increase the journal impact.

Best paper prize: A best paper prize of 1,000 US$ was donated by Caterpillar Inc., USA. For 2011, the prize went to Vincent Magnenet, Albert Giraud, Christophe Auvray for their paper “About the effect of relative humidity on the indentation response of Meuse/Haute–Marne argillite,” Acta Geotechnica, Vol. 6, 155–166, 2011.

State of the journal: Benefited from the high impact factor in 2011, the journal experiences a surge of submissions. In addition to the regular papers, there will be several special issues in 2013 focusing on CO2 storage and instability of granular material.

“Nothing succeeds like success.” Dumas’ quote is most apt for the development of Acta Geotechnica from its inauguration. On behalf of the editors, I wish to thank the board members, authors, reviewers and readers for their commitment and support in the past years and hope to count on your help in future. We will stick to our credo of quality publication and short review time. Let us try to make Acta Geotechnica the leading journal in geomechanics and geotechnical engineering.
