Optical waveguide with nonlinear walls

Article

Abstract

The modes of planar waveguides with thin walls, consisting of nonlinear materials, are studied. The dispersion relations are derived and analyzed by analytical and numerical techniques. The effect of modal type conversion is examined. It is shown that the leaky mode can be converted to the virtual one when the field amplitude is varied.
