Production of oil-and gas-line pipe and casing with improved reliability in service

Abstract

The Vyksa Metallurgical Plant now has the capability of subjecting 100% of its pipes to heat treatment (both local and bulk treatment). A recent decision on the regimes that will be used for bulk heat treatment will allow the plant to produce high-quality oil-and gas-line pipe and casing. In April 2007, the Vyksa plant began producing commercial batches of casing with the strength ratings E and N80Q. Pipe quality was improved by the introduction of a comprehensive nondestructive testing program. Future plans include expanding the production of non-metric tubing.
