In 2014, the best reviewer award was given to Professor Jaroslav Šesták. He is assisting our Journal from the very beginning, actually from the foundation of Journal of Thermal Analysis in 1963. He was the member of the Editorial Advisory Board of our Journal from 1983 and now is the member of the Honorary Board.
The awarding ceremony was held in Zakopane at the joint 12th Conference on Calorimetry and Thermal Analysis of the Polish Society of Thermal Analysis and Calorimetry, and the 5th Joint Czech-Hungarian-Polish-Slovakian Thermoanalytical Conference (September 6–10, 2015).
Prof. Jaroslav Šesták was born in Držkov in the former Czechoslovakia in 1938. He received his M.Sc. degree in chemical engineering and defended his Ph.D. in the field of solid state physics (1968). He was always interested in material science, in which field he got the D.Sc. degree in 1990. He started to work for Institute of Physics in Czechoslovakia in 1962, but after that he spent several years abroad at different universities. Recently, he has been working for the University of West Bohemia (Pilzen) and for the University of New York in Prague.
The main fields of interests of Prof. Šesták are thermal physics and thermodynamics, physics of condensed materials as well as material science. He has also interdisciplinary interest in science and humanities, philosophy and education, as well in the wisdom of heat and scientific world in general. He has over 250 scientific publications, around 2500 citations and his Hirsch index is 23. He is one of those extraordinary researchers who are very talented at several fields simultaneously. This traditional award symbolizes as well our indebtedness for all of our contributors. The number of submitted manuscript is increasing continuously from year to year; thus, the careful selection is crucial for our Journal. The Team of the Journal of Thermal Analysis and Calorimetry would like to thank all of our Contributors for their high quality and enthusiastic work, which allowed us not only to keep, but even to increase the quality of our Journal. We count on their activity in the future as well, because we believe that the high-quality contribution of our reviewers is a guarantee for the future success of our Journal.
