Abstract

This paper proposes a method that uses new quarter-wavelength mutually different structure stepped impedance resonators to design a high-temperature superconducting (HTS) ultra-wide stop-band band-pass filter, and suppresses resonance point of stop-band by loading trapping resonators on feed lines. The new quarter-wavelength mutually different structure stepped impedance resonators reduces the size of resonators, achieves the miniaturization of high-temperature superconducting filter, broadens the stop-band, and realizes ultra-wide stop-band. This four-order high-temperature superconducting filter is designed for the GSM900 system on a two-sided YBCO/LaAlO3/YBCO high-temperature superconducting film with a size of 16.5 mm × 8.1 mm, thickness of 0.5 mm, and permittivity of 24. It is measured at 77 K with a result of bandwidth of 25 MHz, insertion loss less than 0.4 dB, and the first parasitic pass-band frequency greater than 5.5 GHz(stop-band is greater than f 0 + B W/2 ∼ 6f 0). The measurements coincide with the theoretical calculations and the electromagnetic simulation greatly.
