Microstructure, dielectric anomaly and pinched hysteresis loops of grain-oriented KSr2Nb5O15 ferroelectric ceramics

Dense KSr2Nb5O15 (KSN) ferroelectric ceramics with highly texture degree were fabricated by a traditional two-step sintering process combined with brush technique. It is worth noting that such a technique can be employed to prepare grain-oriented ceramics by using the needle-like templates with a low aspect ratio. Dielectric and ferroelectric properties of textured KSN ceramics show a special behavior simultaneously, e.g. two dielectric anomalies and pinched hysteresis loop. This phenomenon was rare in the lead-free ferroelectric ceramic field, which can be roughly attributed to the pinning effect of point defects. Our work may provide a method for designing highly grain-oriented ceramics to investigate the relationship of relaxor re-entrant behavior and defect symmetry principle.
