Abstract
Citric acid mediated flower-like WO3 architectures were successfully synthesized via a facile microwave hydrothermal method. Potassium sulphate was used as a structure directing agent, which plays a significant role in governing morphology during synthesis. The morphology and structures were examined by X-ray diffraction, field emission scanning electron microscopy and transmission electron microscopy. The results indicate that microflower-like morphology forms by assembly of polycrystalline orthorhombic WO3 nanorods. It is found that the sensor based on flower-like microstructure exhibits good sensitivity towards acetone with detection limit up to 1 ppm.
