Determining the Equivalent Sand Roughness of a Surface by Measuring the Hydraulic Resistance of an Annular Channel

  • Published:
Power Technology and Engineering Aims and scope

A new method is proposed for determining equivalent sand roughness from data for measurements of the hydraulic resistance of an annular channel. The channel is formed by a smooth pipe into which a rod with surface roughness is inserted coaxially. The equivalent sand roughness is also determined for this roughness and is applied in calculations for various hydraulic channels. Results confirming the feasibility of this method are presented.
