Established in 2015 by the United Nations, the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are a universal call to action for social and economic development as well as to protect the planet. In the framing UN Resolution “Transforming our World: The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development,” the important role of education, both as an end and a powerful means of development, is explicitly expressed. It is in the context of this global SDG agenda that the authors Stephanie E. L. Bengtsson, Bilal Barakat and Raya Muttarak explore the role of and relationship between education and other key sectors of development.
