First Record of a Pregnant Female of Dasyatis hypostigma, with Description of the Embryos

Synopsis

We report the first pregnant female of the recently described stingray, Dasyatis hypostigma Santos & Carvalho 2004, from southeastern Brazil. This report confirms the aplacental viviparous mode of reproduction with trophonemata of the species and gives a brief account of the embryos.
