Article

A new insecticidal lignan, phrymarolin B, was isolated from the whole plants of Phryma leptostachya L. Its structure was elucidated as 1-hydroxy-2-(3′,4′-methylenedioxy)phenoxy-6-(2″-hydroxy-3″,4″-methylenedioxy)phenyl-3,7-dioxabicyclo[3.3.0]octane mainly by analyses of NMR and MS spectral data. Phrymarolin B was evaluated for insecticidal activity against the early fourth-instar larvae of Mythimna separata, and exhibited moderate insecticidal activity against the early fourth-instar larvae of M. separata.
