Device for Stereotactic Cryoneurosurgery Using Solid Carbon Dioxide

A device for destructive stereotactic cryoneurosurgery of the human brain was developed at the Institute of Human Brain, Russian Academy of Sciences. The device uses solid carbon dioxide with temperature –78°C. Physical and biological parameters of the cryosurgical procedures on brain tumor tissue were determined and the optimal mode of the cryodestruction was chosen.
