Editorial to the second PECS 2004 special issue of Ocean Dynamics

This special issue of Ocean Dynamics contains the second part of some of the recent results presented at the 12th International Biennial Conference on Physics of Estuaries and Coastal Seas (PECS 2004) held in Merida, Mexico, during 19–22 October 2004. The first part was already published in December 2005 in Volume 55, Number 5–6 of the same Journal. All the articles appearing in these two special issues of Ocean Dynamics have gone through a thorough peer review process as expected for any other article in the journal; we would like to take this opportunity to thank the referees for all their help and useful comments which have helped to improve the end product.

PECS is an independent organization whose sole purpose is to organize the PECS bi-annual conferences. The idea of PECS first started with hope to have a conference series focussing on estuaries, the first conference was organized in September of 1978 in Hamburg.
