The 52nd annual meeting of the Ichthyological Society of Japan (ISJ) will be held at Kochi University (http://www.kochi-u.ac.jp/english/) in Kochi City, Japan, from 20 to 23 September 2019. The board of editors and representatives will be held on 20 September, and scientific sessions including oral and poster presentations on 21 and 22 September. Three symposia entitled “Adaptive evolution of fishes in the ancient lakes with reference to the creation of species diversity”, “Significance of the Swedish Vega Collection: Japanese specimens from 140 years ago—a case study reviewing the past, present and future roles of specimens for taxonomic analysis: reconstructing the biodiversity of the past, conserving the environment of today, and preserving a record for research by future generations—” and “Conservation of wild medaka—basic and applicable studies—” will be held on 23 September.
