Optical spectra and their moments for sodium clusters, \(\), with 3 \(\) n \(\) 64

Abstract:

Photoabsorption cross-sections for all sodium cluster ions, \(\), with \(\), have been measured at a temperature of about 105 K. The size dependence of the peak positions and widths is discussed. Triaxial deformations are unequivocally observed. The moments of the optical response are calculated from the data and their size dependence discussed. The width of the plasmon peak is not understood.
