Zusammenfassung

Eine wissenschaftliche Auseinandersetzung mit der Thematik Gewalt gegenüber Mitarbeitern in der Notaufnahme findet bis heute überwiegend im angloamerikanischen Sprachraum statt. Bisherige Studien zeigen jedoch übereinstimmend, dass ein hohes Gewaltrisiko für das Personal in der Notaufnahme besteht. Während Ursachenkonstellationen und patientenbezogene Risikofaktoren für Gewaltphänomene in außereuropäischen Notaufnahmen bereits charakterisiert wurden, steht die Evaluation der Wirksamkeit von strukturellen Maßnahmen der Gewaltverhinderung sowie von individuellen Präventions- und Deeskalationsprogrammen auch im Ausland noch aus.

Abstract

Workplace violence in the emergency department is an concerning worldwide hazard with serious individual and organisational consequences. Up to now, scientific research analysing this issue is limited to non-European countries. In the present article, we seek to describe the phenomenon of violence against emergency department staff members and to report on various methods of violence prevention and de-escalation with regard to their proven effectiveness.
