We hope that 2010 has been a good year for you and your family and that 2011 will be even better.
We would like to take this opportunity to express our gratitude for your continued support of the Archives of Women's Mental Health. A special thank you goes to several members of our editorial board who have recently completed their term, and extend a warm welcome to the new members who are joining our team.
The number and quality of manuscripts submitted to the journal for consideration continues to grow. Our aim is to not only continue to improve the quality of what we publish but also to expand our scope.
These are novel, exciting times for research in mental health; scientists and clinicians from different backgrounds and fields of interest are concentrating their efforts to work more collaboratively and to expand the knowledge on contributing factors (biological, epidemiological, psychosocial) to mental illnesses and effective preventative/therapeutic strategies to reduce psychiatric morbidity and promote wellness. Women's Mental Health is not an exception, as our field witnesses a growing interest in novel areas of research.
Currently, the main focus of the majority of the publications in our journal is the perinatal period. We would like to encourage you to also submit results from your work that are related to other milestones in the female lifecycle (the menarche, the perimenopause/menopause). In addition, we would like to see our journal as a vehicle for dissemination of novel research endeavours in key areas that offer a significant 'crosstalk' with Women's Mental Health, including HIV in women, trauma and PTSD, metabolic issues in female psychiatric patients, eating disorders in women, etc. We certainly welcome your contributions and rely on you to continue building a vibrant, scientifically stimulating and clinically relevant journal.
Again, our continuous growth would not have been possible without the hard work of our Section Editors, the Editorial Advisory Board and the dozens of reviewers who volunteer their valuable time and make sure that we maintain a high quality of manuscripts accepted for publication. Thank you to all of them, but a special thank you also goes to Dr. Katrin Stakemeier, Ms. Adelheid Braun, Ms. Ellen Klink, Ms. Hilde Haala and the entire team at Springer Verlag, who keep us on our toes, but at the same time are extremely gracious when we impose on them close to impossible time lines; and last but not least, a big thank you to Ms. Janice Rogers, our editorial assistant, and Ms. Cindy Tasch, our personal assistant, who pull it all together.
Yours faithfully,
Meir Steiner
