MacKerron GJ, Egerton C, Gaskell C, Parpia A, Mourato S (2009) Willingness to pay for carbon offset certification and co-benefits among (high-)flying young adults in the UK. Energy Policy 37:1372–1381. Eine Ursachenanalyse für das Verhalten liefert z. B. Akter S, Brouwer R, Brander L, van Beukering P (2009) Respondent uncertainty in a contingent market for carbon offsets. Ecolog Econ 68:1858–1863.
Zur Kritik am Voluntary Carbon Offset vgl. etwa Rousse O (2008) Environmental and economic benefits resulting from citizens' participation in CO2 emissions trading: an efficient alternative solution to the voluntary compensation of CO2 emissions. Energy Policy 36:388–397 und Gillenwater M (2008) Redefining RECs-Part 1: untangling attributes and offsets. Energy Policy 36:2109–2119.
