Zunächst sollte eine klare Diagnose nach der Schulmedizin, dann erst die Indikation zur Akupunktur gestellt werden. In Akutfällen wird empfohlen, sich immer zuerst an die Standards der westlichen Medizin zu halten. Bei chronischen Erkrankungen ist die Akupunktur als Adjuvans oft hilfreich. Für die Therapie chronischer Kniebeschwerden ist die Behandlung lokaler Akupunkturpunkte essenziell.

Abstract

Needle acupuncture is an excellent complementary medical therapy given the right indications and taking the concept of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) into account. A clear diagnosis should initially be established by conventional medicine and then the indications for acupuncture should be established. In acute cases it is recommended that the standards of western medicine should be followed. For chronic diseases acupuncture is often helpful as an adjuvant therapy. The treatment of local acupuncture points is essential for the therapy of chronic knee complaints.
