Every year since 2003, the Editor-in-Chief together with the CVIR Editorial Board chooses several publications from the previous volume for nomination of the Editors’ Medal. The winners are selected using a poll that is distributed among members of the Editorial Board. Only original and experimental submissions are included.

We are pleased to report that in 2017 there was an increase in qualifying articles, reader interest, and author submissions.

This year it is our pleasure to award the CVIR Editors’ Medal 2018 to the author group listed below. This award comes with a considerable donation, as well as a medal and a certificate from Cardiovascular and Interventional Radiological Society of Europe (CIRSE).

Qi-Feng Chen, Zhen-Yu Jia, Zheng-Qiang Yang, Wen-Long Fan & Hai-Bin Shi (2017): Transarterial Chemoembolization Monotherapy Versus Combined Transarterial Chemoembolization–Microwave Ablation Therapy for Hepatocellular Carcinoma Tumors ≤ 5 cm: A Propensity Analysis at a Single Center. Cardiovascular and Interventional Radiology, 40(11), 1748–1755.

Congratulations to the winners, and thank you for making CVIR your preferred journal for your submissions.

Klaus Hausegger, MD
